Perspektiv takes delivery of Escoota

04.12.09

The greener alternative for commuters and businesses

Local entrepreneur Lincoln Austin has always had a keen interest in the environment – as well as potential new business ventures – so when he came across an opportunity to launch a new electric scooter in the UK, he jumped at the chance.

It’s already starting to stimulate some local interest too. Integrated marketing agency Perspektiv is the first company in Nottingham to take delivery of an escoota. They will be using it to deliver print proofs to clients around the city, and to transport items from their offices on Stoney Street in the Lace Market to their print operation on Carlton Road.

The new escoota is just perfect for getting around the city. It is extremely environmentally friendly – very quiet, has no CO2 emissions and a low carbon footprint - as well as being highly cost effective – it costs just 8p for 30 miles travel – the cost of charging it from a standard 13 amp electric socket. It also requires no road tax.

What’s more it’s the first electric scooter designed and engineered to be especially suitable for roads in the UK.   Manufactured in China – the market leaders for electric scooters - the escoota combines classic Italian styling with German engineering expertise and is currently available in white, red and grey but can be liveried.

With a maximum speed of 28mph, it’s ideal for commuters who are fed up with sitting in traffic jams and fighting for car parking spaces.  It is also perfect for businesses that need to make small deliveries around the city.

“Electric scooters are the one sector of the motorcycle market that is on the increase and, with sustainability high on everyone’s agenda, I just knew that the escoota would be an attractive prospect,” said Lincoln.   “They are already starting to stimulate a great deal of interest.”

Perspektiv’s commercial director Ashley Kirkpatrick said: “We think that the escoota is just brilliant.   It provides us with a green and highly cost effective method of transporting small goods around the city, eliminating the need for someone to jump in their car or to use a taxi.   They are also just perfect for Perspektiv staff to commute to work.”
